Basic training by Phoebe

4th December 1914

A few weeks later we were doing the training. The sergeant was going mad just because our backs were not straight. At the beginning it was really fun, but it got worse. He swore at my friend Bob just for breathing when he said not to. He shouted one time till he was blue in the face. We once had to practise walking in line for 5 HOURS! I had to peel like 500,000 potatoes. My friend had to paint coal white, then black.
