Alex’s Tudor Food Project

This is an amazing project from Alex in Moneybury. This book is just beautiful and should be a real treasure to look back upon when Alex is older.

Here’s a couple of inserts from Amelia’s History project.  The hand-drawn infographics are a particularly effective way to present comparison information:

Melody’s Tudor Food Factfile

Here is a Powerpoint from Melody’s Tudor project earlier this year, overlooked at the time because her memory stick was doubling as a book mark in her recipe book!

Still more History projects

Jacob in Moneybury produced this beautifully designed Recipe Book for his Tudor project earlier in the year. A lot of time and effort has gone into this. Click the link for the interactive book:

Some more Tudor Food Projects

Going through the Tudor Food projects, here’s a couple more interesting projects from Marlin. Lily came up with a whole evening of Tudor TV scheduling, while Lizzie prepared her menu diligently:

Ava’s History Project

Ava used a real quill to produce her scrap book about her visit to Hampton Court earlier this year:  http://snack.to/fzh3ycuz

Behold…. Xavier’s Cockentrice

Xavier in Marlin followed up his roasted boar’s head by stitching together a rabbit and a chicken to make the legendary Cockentrice. This was a mythical creature, brought out at feasts to amaze and amuse the dinner guests.

Zoe’s Tudor Project

Zoe from Moneybury worked hard to produce a great looking Powerpoint presentation. You can read it here as an interactive book:

Henry and Francis Go to a Restaurant

If we can obtain a copy in a different format, we might be able to post a full copy of Xavi’s movie ‘Henry and Francis Go to a Restaurant’. In the meantime, here is a still from Xavi’s film:henry & francis

Freddie’s Tudor Masterchef

Freddie graphic

Here is something that Freddie handed in on his memory stick: a design for a creative, double-sided leaflet about Tudor food to advertise a possible future series of ‘Tudor Masterchef’:

Xavier has been in the kitchen again….

Xavier has been getting to work in his kitchen again. Even though he had handed his History project in, he had another project he wanted to do. If you thought the Boar’s head was impressive (and maybe just a bit grisly), keep an eye open for updates on this site of his Cockentrice Project…..

Brown Fryes by Alex and Freddie

wpid-2013-01-23-12.17.50.jpgAlex must have spent the whole Christmas holiday thinking about food in Tudor times. We hope to display some more of his work later. Freddie and Alex made this film about making ‘Brown Fryes’ (we might call it “Eggy bread” today)

Xavvy’s Right Royal Roast

For his project Xavvy in Marlin went the whole hog – well, the head anyway. We hope to publish his full instructions soon. He also made the marzipan fruits among the decorations.

Some of the History Projects from Mounts

Lot’s of interesting things have arrived in the classroom this week. Here are some examples of History projects from Mounts.

Marlin History Projects

The king has looked at your work and is mightily pleased. He has said that some of you are worthy of being taken on in his kitchens as spit boys and in a few years that you might be able to work your way up to Head Cook status (except Euan, who on the cover of ‘Tudor Food for Dummies’ said he was a “Tudor Culinary Expert” – the King says Euan’s in charge of the washing up!)
